Equipment Manager/Head Mechanic
Overview
The Golf Club at Copper Valley is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Equipment Manager/Mechanic to oversee the maintenance, repair, and performance of our golf course equipment fleet.
Copper Valley is an 18-hole championship facility featuring a predominantly new Toro equipment fleet, providing an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to work with modern equipment in a high-quality golf course environment.
Position Summary
The Equipment Manager/Mechanic is responsible for the preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of all golf course maintenance equipment, including gasoline, diesel, electric, and hydraulic systems. This individual will also play a key role in training staff on proper equipment operation and care, ensuring efficiency and longevity of the equipment fleet.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on Toro and John Deere equipment
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and maintain service schedules
- Grind and adjust reels and bedknives to maintain high-quality playing conditions
- Train staff on safe operation, daily care, and proper usage of all equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and parts inventory
- Manage parts ordering and vendor relationships
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
- Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and operational readiness
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience as a golf course equipment mechanic or related field
- Strong knowledge of Toro equipment; familiarity with John Deere preferred
- Experience with reel grinding, mower setup, and cutting unit adjustments
- Ability to troubleshoot diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Small engine or diesel mechanic certification
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with equipment management software
