The Jetter Golf Corporation manages Pleasanton Golf Center in Pleasanton. The principals of Jetter Golf have been hands-on in the golf industry for over 30 years. Jetter Golf is currently looking to fill the Superintendent position at Pleasanton Golf Center. This is a full-time, benefitted position offering, Health/Dental Insurance, Simple IRA, PTO/Holidays, Association Dues, Continuing Education, Uniforms and Golf Privileges.

Pleasanton Golf Center is seeking a full time Golf Course Superintendent. Salary Range $75,000-$100,000 DOE

This position is responsible for partnering with the General Manager and ownership to manage the day to day operations and maintenance activities of the golf course, driving range, practice area, landscape, facilities and equipment.

The 9 hole golf course offers a fun short course experience with three par 4’s and is located inside the oldest 1-mile horse race track in the country. The driving range is the premier range in the area and has recently been upgraded to include a high-end, private, membership-only practice and training facility. The fully lighted range stays busy year around.

The duties include:

Assessing and providing guidance and expertise to maintain rigorous industry and environmental standards in turf quality, including use of specialized knowledge in various fields of agronomy and horticulture. Based on such knowledge, the Superintendent is responsible for making recommendations and decisions to address or direct others to address any issues with turf quality in conjunction with the direction of the General Manager and Ownership.

The Superintendent will participate in hiring, training, and developing all staff, to include ensuring the staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.

  • Evaluate, direct, train and supervise employees
  • Communicate professionally and timely with individuals, organizations and companies affiliated with the operation
  • Diagnose and solve technical problems of golf course maintenance
  • Perform irrigation operations, scheduling, maintenance & repairs
  • Operate all golf course maintenance equipment
  • Perform maintenance and cultural practices to ensure golf course in excellent playing condition according to Company standards.
  • Develop and execute annual maintenance budget
  • Purchase supplies and materials within budgetary limitations
  • Maintain accurate records to track maintenance expenses, construction activities, equipment repair, OSHA safety activities, and fertilizer, chemical, and pest control practices within county, state and federal guidelines.
  • Promote quality equipment operations and repair/maintenance programs. Assists with equipment repairs as needed.
  • Promote a high-performance team of co-workers while maintaining a positive, safe, challenging, enjoyable work environment.
  • Train and Implement Procedures for Golf Course Maintenance Staff
  • Perform Chemical and Fertilizer applications
  • Daily water management of Practices Greens, Tees, and Fairways
  • Daily setup of course for customer playability
  • Manage daily employee projects
  • Assign and develop work-efficient schedules to meet staffing needs of Golf Operations and as warranted, recruit and hire staff to provide superior level of customer services.
  • Ensure that all direct reports adhere to standards regarding dress code.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and always maintain a professional image.

Requirements/Preferences

  • 2-3 years' experience in Golf Course Maintenance or related field
  • Pesticide Applicators License preferred (or attainable within 3 months)
  • Pre-employment drug screen that includes marijuana
  • Clean DMV record to be insured to drive Club vehicles
  • Supervisory/managerial experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English - Spanish) communication ability preferred
  • Computer Skills: Needs to use a computer to get and document information related to record keeping, compliance/regulation and communications.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
